How to Price a Holistic Medicine Practitioner

How to Price a Holistic Medicine Practitioner

Holistic medicine offers a wide range of natural treatments for a number of diseases and disorders. You can treat ailments ranging from chronic pain caused by arthritis to cancer. Since most holistic medicine is paid out of pocket, it's important to be familiar with the price range of different practitioners. If your insurance covers alternative medicine, find out what your deductible is before you start spending. Follow these steps to find a holistic medicine practitioner.

Things You'll Need:

Computer with Internet access

Figure Out Your Treatment Needs

1

Research your specific condition or ailment and read about the different ways holistic practitioners would treat it. Start with a resource book like "The American Holistic Health Association Complete Guide to Alternative Medicine" (see Resources below).

2

Make notes on how much the items you'll need for treatment cost. Do you need to buy herbs, vitamins and self-treatment supplies? Or, will you need to pay for a series of treatments from a practitioner? Some conditions will require both.

3

Chart your symptoms. Keep notes so that your practitioner can help find the right treatment(s) for you.

4

Find out whether or not your insurance company offers coverage for alternative medicine. Some companies offer coverage for massage therapy, acupuncture and chiropractic treatments.

Evaluate the Cost

1

Search for a holistic practitioner in your area, using the Holistic Health Network Web site (see Resources below).

2

Set up a consultation with a few practitioners near you. Use this consultation session as an interview. Choose the practitioner you interact with the best. Make your choice, and schedule a follow-up session with that practitioner.

3

Ask how much your first visit will cost you.

4

Know how often you'll have to visit to receive treatment and the cost for these follow-up appointments.

5

Talk about payment and any possibilities in price changes.

6

Learn whether or not your practitioner accepts insurance.

7

Check that your treatment is covered by your insurance company if your plan covers alternative therapies.

8

Inquire about payment plans and options.

9

Find out about tax deductible treatments. There are occasions where low income households may receive tax breaks.

Tips & Warnings

The price of a holistic treatment will vary depending on the number of treatments you need, whether or not your insurance company offers coverage and whether your practitioner offers payment plans.

If you're receiving treatment at an office that's not in your home town, include mileage and gas costs in your estimate of the cost of treatment.

How to Prepare for Energy Healing

How to Prepare for Energy Healing

Preparing for energy healing is an important part of the treatment process. If an energy practitioner neglects this step, they will be useless to their client and put their own health at risk. What follows are several ways to get in proper alignment before an energy session.

1

Get proper rest. Eight hours rest is minimal the night before a day of energy healing. Improper rest zaps mental and physical energy needed for effective treatment.

2

Steer clear of processed foods. Eating nutritious foods (whole grains, fruits, vegetables) prior to your treatments will enable you to avoid being sluggish throughout the session. In addition, substances such as sugar and caffeine have been known to slow energy flow.

3

Remain focused throughout the day by meditating in the morning. Get in a relaxed position and focus on your breathing for 5 to 10 minutes the morning prior to your treatments. Next, visualize your heart as a glowing light, radiating and growing until it fills your entire body with healing energy. Complete your heart meditation after 15 to 20 minutes or until you feel the process is complete.

4

Perform some simple stretches to get your energy flowing. Stretching your muscles allows healing energy to flow more smoothly throughout the body. Check out the resource section for links to websites explaining some basic body stretches.

5

Center yourself by focusing on your patient before and throughout your treatment session. Before your treatment, stand behind your patient and clear your mind of all distractions. Keep your thoughts centered on the well being of your client by envisioning a loved one (of your client's) standing by them. Feel the love they have for your patient as you visualize looking into their eyes.

How to Wear Bright Colors

How to Wear Bright Colors

Spring 2008 fashion is alive with color! From brilliant fuschia to bright yellow, you'll see color everywhere as warm weather approaches. Some people have the skin and hair to compliment these colors beautifully while others look pale and washed out when matched with these brilliant shades. If you fall into the latter category but still love the look, here are some ways to wear bright colors even if you aren't a physical perfect match.

Step
1

Wear them with more flattering shades

One alternative is to buy a printed blouse that has splashes of bright color against a background of more muted colors that are flattering to you. Using this approach you'll get a hint of color while avoiding that washed out look. Another strategy is to wear a bright color away from your face, such as a fuschia shade of skirt teamed with a blouse in a more neutral shade such as navy, black, cream, or white. This will give you a hint of color without overpowering your complexion. Another colorful fashion idea is to wear a brightly colored top with a jacket or blazer in a shade you're already accustomed to wearing. This will give your current wardrobe a nice color update without spending a lot of money.

Step
2

Choose the right shade

Sometimes being able to wear a certain color involves choosing the right shade. Don't assume because you can't wear one shade of yellow, that yellow is off limits to you from a fashion standpoint. Experiment with different shades and see if you can find one that's colorful, yet flattering to you.

Step
3

Choose bright accessories

If you don't feel comfortable wearing this season's colors as clothing, choose a colorful belt and matching pair of shoes to dress up your black pantsuit. Add a handbag in the same color and you'll be right in style. Colorful scarves are also an excellent way to experiment with a new color and look for the season.

Step
4

Don't overdo it

Even if bright colors look fantastic on you, resist the urge to overdo the look. Too much color can be fashion overkill. Intermixing bright colors with more subdued shades gives a classier, more elegant look. Even a small touch of bright color can be enough to carry the look. Plus, you'll probably grow weary of seeing those bright colors in your closet once the trend passes so resist the urge to overbuy.

How to Wear Bracelets with Style

How to Wear Bracelets with Style

Bracelets can enhance an outfit as well as a nicely manicured hand. They're particularly attractive in the summer when you have a sun kissed
skin
tone

which can play up the look of a simple gold bracelet on the wrist. Bracelets are immensely versatile and can give your wardrobe a huge style boost. Here's how to wear bracelets with style and panache.

Step
1

Enhance The Colors Of Your Outfit.

Colored

bracelets

, particularly lucite ones, are hot for Spring 2008. You'll find them in a brilliant array of colors to complement the bold, graphic color designs being shown for spring. Buy a top in some of the new flattering spring colors along with several lucite bracelets in matching shades. Wear two or three colored lucite bracelets with your top and you'll be right in style for spring.

Step
2

Show Off Sun Kissed Skin.

Nothing shows off skin gently darkened by the sun (or self tanner if you want to avoid sun damage) than gold bracelets. Keep it simple by playing up your tan with a 14K gold cuff bracelet or one of two gold bangle bracelets. You can even add a delicate, gold ankle bracelet to your ankle when you head out the door in your shorts or casual skirt.

Step
3

Play Up Your Manicure.

If you just got a manicure and are anxious to show off your hands, choose a colorful bracelet that complements your nail polish or stick with one or two gold or silver bangles to highlight your hands and perfectly shaped nails. After you've spent all that time and money on a manicure, you need to make sure people notice your freshly buffed hands.

Step
4

Wear A Functional Bracelet.

If you want a bracelet that's more than a bracelet, buy a bangle watch that will not only show off your hands and wrists but will keep you aware of the time. You can find bangle watches at all price levels from high end gold and silver designer bangle watches to fun, casual ones you can wear every day. It's a great alternative to a boring wristwatch.

Step
5

Make Your Own.

It's super easy to make your own bracelets. Buy stretch cord from your local craft or bead store. Head to a bead store and choose from a colorful array of beads to slide onto the cord. Once you've added your beads, tie two square knots and secure with a drop of Krazy glue to give added strength. Your bracelet is now ready to wear. Watch out! This can become addictive. You'll want a stretch bracelet for every outfit.
